Recently updated from my classic VS-150 and I love my new speakers
I have spent several weeks now with this listending to all my music and surprised but best thing about them over my Klipsch is clarity and midrange and high end loudness. The bass is flat after Dirac does its thing, but amazing how, even after hearing a song a thousand times, I now hear background vocals and instruments NEVER heard before. It just blows my mind. THe bass is effortless if I want it but acting like great midranges with Dirac. I have not issues and not returning them.
I do also like knowing I can run them as FULL RANGE on Dirac and my receiver's crossover with no fear of hurting or blowing them. Very nice and so comforting. Overall the last and best speaker pair I'll ever own and happy. They are huge and takes a good wife to allow, but she even comments how clear vocals are on movies now and clarity just stellar.
I like ordering from CV directly and shipped on wooden pallet and shrink wrapped up and boxes have reinforced ribbing to help the speaker make it from China. Very good design for shipping and they were strapped to pallet to avoid damage. I enjoyed the look on the FedEx guy rolling them down my hill on a pallet dolly. He had no idea what they were but asked since so heavy.
Yes after regretting NOT buying a pair of D-9s back in 1987 from Circuit City due to being young and poor, I finally have the position to get that feeling of sound back with the closest thing possible, the XLS-215.
It is expensive but at what cost in the future will they be then to replace? It seems as time goes by more and more manufacturers sell smaller and more compact speaker systems. I have Klipsch RP-8000 now and sound great but missing the mid bass and the best 15" subwoofer in the world won't replace the sound of a full range speaker like the D-9s or XLS-215s. I have the best 15" subwoofer now but feeling isn't hearing the music. I want to hear it.
So I did it and just got them ordered. Sure, I had to convince wife but got her on good day, and I am so glad Cerwin Vega is back and owned by themselves again. In the spirit of Gene, I am going to rock out and play like a concert in my living room for the first time since leaving that Circuit City demo room wishing but not making the dough to get them. I will wait the 14 days it takes FedEx to cross the county on a pallet and will be worth it. I just know it. God Bless America and Cerwin-Vega.
the fed ex was not prepared to do this I had a 2 wheeler and did it my self he said it was on a skid so I took care of that and the speakers work great
Probably the single best upgrade to my system. I will never regret spending the nearly 2K price tag. Must be heard to understand just how great they sound, no amount of words will do it justice. They sound better than speakers three times the cost! It’s a whole new perspective on feeling the music, not just hearing it. Thank God I live in the country because I would of already been evicted anywhere else..
